Sunny Rest became the first nudist resort in Pennsylvania to get a liquor license in 2008. The clientele are regulars, a lot of retirees who keep their vacation homes there for the season. We went one night when the Volleyball Tournament was on that weekend and met a lot of wonderful people. Friday/Saturday nights there is a DJ in the nightclub that draws a crowd. Very clean and comfortable room and included breakfast each morning. We never saw any drug use or behavior that would be considered over the edge but sure it does happen here. Review of Sunny Rest Lodge Reviewed Augvia mobile Spent the weekend in on of their motel rooms. We have been to " Au Naturel" resorts in the Caribbean but this place rather simple, good food, cheap drinks and really a nice group of people. The place has its "Lifestyle" crowd and "Naturalists" but we are neither, we really like to lay in the sun and have no tan lines. Not a place for the faint at heart but for those who have been there done that, its really a great experience. My wife and I had visited Sunny Rest a few times last summer and really had a great time. His girlfriend was a riot and made me feel like I was home having coffee with close friends. I don't remember their names but I know he works there doing maintnence. They offered us a cup of hot coffee which we thought was so toughtful. We met a couple who have a pop up right across from the camp ground who offered to let us sit with them under their canapoy till the rain stopped. Saturday morning we woke up and it was raining and we were tent camping so we were a little wet but very cold. I was never once made to feel uncomfortable like I have at some other nudist places. The staff at the front desk were very helpful and let us know right away that if we were ever uncomfortable for any reason to let them know right away and they would take care of it. It had a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere. My husband and I were looking for a place to go not too far from home that was a family oriented nudist campsite and boy are we glad we picked Sunny Rest!! Everyone we met was so nice and friendly. Delicious, generous portions at good prices (we had the 2 dinners for $20 special - one chicken parmigiana and one calamari marinara. One evening we went to the nearby town of Lehighton and ate a wonderful Italian dinner at Sapore's. Also, terrific to hang out "au natural" for a few days. Overall, it is very rustic (old), but still a great break from the usual routine. More developed than other nudist campgrounds we have been to in the Northeast. Most staff and guests were very pleasant. You can order any breakfast items from the menu. Breakfast included with motel room was plentiful. Volleyball in pool daily from about 10am - 1pm. Very shallow at one half of the pool, mostly for sitting to cool down. There was an air conditioner in the wall which helped during the heat wave. One modern amenity in the room was a flat screen television. The room decor is old - basically plywood wall paneling painted white with older furniture. Loved the convenient location to the pool, restaurant, clubhouse which houses the hot tub, and office. We stayed in a motel room #21near the clubhouse.
